On Barton’s Mills and the SavageLandbooks
Barton’s Mills, a bookwritten by and with ‘decorations’ by A. Hyatt Verrill, was originally published by Appleton in 1932. He describes the book as “In a broad way this book is the story of my own ancestors.”
In 1955, just one year after the author’s death, the book ‘The SavageLand’ appeared in the U.K., more notably in New Zealand and Australia. This was published by Panther Books, and credit was given to the original publisher, Appleton, but without referring to the original title. No explanation is given anywhere to the change in title. SavageLand is a very spartan (frugal) printing with no wasted pages.
My copy of Barton’s Mills is a 1976 reprint, again crediting Appleton’s 1932 original. It contains an ‘Introduction’, that is missing from the SavageLand.
I have now published over 35 books. They are by authors from the past, the books were rare so I have made them available in paperback or as ebooks. They are available at Lulu.Com, more particularly they are listed here. Doug's Bookstore
Printing from this blog appears to be challenging.
I recommend that you click and drag (select) all the text that you want. 'Ctrl' + 'C' to copy. Then open an empty WORD document on your computer and 'Ctrl' + 'V' to paste. You should then print with page previews... This suggestion may save a few trees - blog articles tend to run on and not be space efficient.
and the Outboard Boys Series. The Boys, Terry, Martin and Warren, were created by Roger Garis and appeared in the four-book series published in 1933 and 1934. The Boys used their powerful outboard motors to solve mysteries and have adventures, etc.
